Guy Solomon St. John

Guy Solomon St. John, 67 made his journey to the spirit world on April 11th, 2013 at Avera Hospital in Pierre, South Dakota.

Guy Solomon St. John was born on December 17th 1945 at home to Solomon and Ruth St. John.

Guy attended grade school at Hidden Valley School in Big Bend, S.D.

On April 6th 1966 he married Glenda Chapman, from this marriage they became proud parents of 2 children. He later had 6 more children in his second marriage to Linda Many Horses.

In his younger years he played softball and enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids play softball as well. He enjoyed teaching his grandkids how to play horseshoes, whist, softball, how to drive, he enjoyed summer time the best where he loved being outdoors whether it was attending a pow wow, watching a rodeo, going to softball games or just hanging out laughing and joking, listening to music but whatever it was he doing it was all about his kids, grandkids and great grandkids.

He was a long time farmer and ranch hand. He worked and supported his family by working for various farmers around the Big Bend area.

He will be dearly missed and survived by his children: Joanne Godfrey, Lenita St. John of Pierre, Brent (Possum) and Shawn Long Chase, Little Guy St. John of Big Bend, Marie Long Chase of Sioux Falls, Becky Minck of Vermillion; a brother: Pete St. John of Big Bend; his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Solomon and Ruth St. John, his brothers: Justin "Tiny" St. John and Odell St. John, his sisters: Bendicta Steve, Yvonne St. John, a son: Scott St. John, and a grand daughter: Ellen Long Chase, Aunts: Rosalie Heuer, Nelda Lambie, Rose and Clara Howe, Cecilia Middletent, Mildred St. John, Cousins: Phyllis Danielson, Margaret Gonzales, Brad Big Eagle. Nephews: Robert Red Water, Keith St.John, Teke St. John. Neice Debbie St. John

Funeral services for Guy St. John will be held on April 17th 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherines Church in Big Bend South Dakota. Burial at St. Catherines Cemetery.

All night wakes will be held on Monday, April 15th & Tuesday, April 16th at St. Catherines Hall in Big Bend, South Dakota beginning at 7:00 P.M.
