Ethel Evangeline Sayers

Ethel Evangeline Sayers, age 91, of Red Lake, Minnesota Journeyed to the Spirit World on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at The Red Lake Hospital.

She was born on January 4, 1922 in Red Lake the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Beaulieu Dolson.

Ethel attended school in Red Lake. She graduated in 1940 at The Red Lake High School.

She went to College at Bemidji State University for Secretarial.

Ethel worked at the hospital as a housekeeper. She also worked for The Red Lake Tribal Council for many years before her retirement.

She married Matthew Sayers in 1941.

Ethel loved to watch golf, baseball and LifeTime. She liked to play bingo and going to the casino. She was a devoted mother and grandmother to all her children and grandchildren. Ethel enjoyed raising her special grandsons Charlie Donnell and Roderick Sayers and Lyle “Choo” Donnell Jr., special granddaughters: Ravonna, Raynelle, Rayshayna and Rashonda Roberts. She also devoted her time watching her special great-great grandson: Rhishawn Roberts for the past eight years.

Ethel was a loving, caring person to all who knew her.

Her door was always open for all her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: Darlene (Laverne) Donnell of Redby, Billy (Brenda) Sayers of Red lake, Sugie Roberts of Red Lake, Dwight (Carolyn) Sayers of Red Lake and Fabian Sayers of Red Lake; 27 grandchildren, 120 great grandchildren and 62 great, great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons: Bruce and Ricky Sayers, 5 grandsons, special grandson: Lyle “Choo” Donnell.

Funeral services for Ethel Sayers will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Red Lake. Father Jerry Rogers will be the Celebrant.

Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

All night wakes will be held on Sunday, April 14th beginning at 1:00 P.M. and will continue Monday, April 15th all night at The Red Lake Community Center in Red Lake.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be Flavia Stately, Jan Kelly, Lady Bug Johnson, Mary Ellen Cook-Stillday, Becky Jourdain, Janet Neadeau-Drouillard, Alfreda Sayers, Stacey King, Linda Donnell, Brenda Sayers, Carolyn Sayers and Debbie Chaboyea.

Active Casket Bearers will be all her grandsons.
