UPDATED: Winter storm warning continues for Bemidji area until Monday afternoon

Bemidji area residents should not plan on getting into their gardens any time soon. Another snow storm is under way.

Snow began falling in the Bemidji area around 4 p.m. and continued into the evening. A winter storm warning remains in effect until 1 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service. This storm could dump as much as 8 inches of snow on the area before it fizzles Monday afternoon.

Bemidji residents awoke to sunny skies and 17 degrees Sunday morning. According to the seven-day forecast, the temperature will not reach the 40s this week.

Strong winds are producing blizzard conditions in open areas.

Sunday Night: Snow with areas of blowing snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 28. Breezy, with a east wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Monday: Snow with areas of blowing snow before 1pm, then a chance of snow after 1pm. High near 36. North northeast wind 8 to 15 mph becoming west northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Monday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow, mainly before 1 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 26. West northwest wind 8 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35. North northwest wind 5 to 8 mph.

Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25. Northeast wind 5 to 7 mph.

Wednesday: Snow likely, mainly after 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 36. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
