Bemidji man seriously hurt in Saturday crash

WALKER — A Bemidji man was seriously injured Saturday when he lost control of his car on an icy two-lane highway near here and was broadsided by a vehicle traveling toward him, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.

Johnathan M. Fairbanks, 26, was northbound on State Highway 371 when his 1995 Ford Taurus slid sideways near mile marker 103 and was broadsided by a southbound vehicle driven by Wayne M. Goldsmith, 63, of Fosston. The condition of Goldsmith and his passenger, Linda L. Goldsmith, 61, of Fosston, was unavailable.

The accident happened around 12:19 p.m. Freezing rain was reported in the area about that time.
