Overstock Publications Are Free to Native Communities & Organizations

We here at First Nations Development Institute are reducing the inventory of some of our key publications. We are offering them FREE to Native American, Alaska Native and/or Native Hawaiian organizations and government entities that can put them to good use. We’ll even ship them to you!

The publications are overstocks from one of our focus areas – financial education for Native Americans. Our projects in this area range from helping individuals and families understand the basics of financial management – opening and maintaining a bank account and using credit wisely – to helping individuals understand financial markets and a variety of financial instruments for borrowing and saving. We believe that learning how to manage finances ensures that Native people will be more likely to save and to challenge financial-service providers to develop products that respond to their needs. Our programs result in increased investment levels and economic growth in Native communities.

Here’s what we have to offer. They are all early editions of workbooks based on our Building Native Communities: Financial Skills for Families curriculum, which was originally developed by First Nations and the Fannie Mae Foundation:

Building Native Communities: Financial Skills for Families (Instructor’s Guide – 2nd edition)

Building Native Communities: Investing for the Future (Instructor’s Guide – 1st edition)

Building Native Communities: Saving for the Future – Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) for Native Families

Building Native Communities: A Guide to Claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit (Consumer Workbook)

If you are interested, please contact Debbie Derryberry by email at dderryberry@firstnations.org. She will need to know which publications you want, how many of each, and your shipping address. It would also be nice to let us know how you plan to use them.
