Holiday Lights in the Park continues to brighten spirits and give to those in need until Jan. 1

Record numbers of attendees and CD sales already reported for one of Minnesota’s fastest growing holiday traditions

ST. PAUL, MN – December 19, 2012– There is still time to help others and check out The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) fifth annual Holiday Lights in the Park event at St. Paul’s Phalen Park. To date more than 10,000 vehicles have driven through one of the region’s biggest holiday lights. The displays will stay illuminated through Tuesday, January 1. All net proceeds from the event will be donated to local charities including Second Harvest Heartland, Union Gospel Mission, Saint Paul Parks Conservancy and UnderConstruction. In the past five years Holiday Lights in the Park and related events have raised more than $170,000 for charity.

In addition, “Holiday Lights, Vol.4,” the official holiday CD of the park is still available for purchase in limited quantities at all Twin Cities' area Kowalski’s Market locations. Proceeds from the sale of the CD also go to the four charities. “This CD is the perfect last-minute stocking stuffer,” said Phil Thompson, music director for the CD. “We have set a record for sales and that’s no surprise, this is the best group of artists we have ever assembled for this project.” The album contains tracks from Minnesota-based artists including Owl City, The Blenders and Lorie Line. Once the album is sold out, shoppers will still be able to find “Holiday Lights, Vol4” available on iTunes and can also gift the album digitally to anyone across the globe – even on Christmas day.

A concert, “Holiday Lights Live!” featuring many of the album’s artists played to its largest crowd ever at the Historic Pantages theatre on Dec. 9. “These events and this album are the perfect way to get in the holiday spirit all while helping those in our community who need support,” said Thompson. “There is still time to take part in this growing family holiday tradition.”
