Robert Eagle

Robert Young Eagle, a.k.a Robert "Bobby" Eagle, “Wambdi Ho Wašte” (Eagle Voice Good), age 59, of McLaughlin, South Dakota Journeyed to the Spirit World on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at The Mobridge Regional Hospital in Mobridge, South Dakota.

He was born on September 28, 1953 in Sisseton, South Dakota the son of Wallace Eagle Sr. and Harriet Keeble.

A member of The Sisseton/Wahpeton Dakota Oyate. He is full-blood from the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate

Robert attended AIAI-Institute of American Indian Arts at Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1969.

He honorably served his Country in The United States Army from 1970-1971.

He spent most of his life in Waubay South Dakota with Judy Allary where they raised their four daughters. They became foster parents. He later resided in Mclaughlin, South Dakota with his wife Patricia Eagle.

He was a musician, song writer and artist. He travelled across the United States meeting and helping Vietnam Veterans. He would hear their story and dedicated some of his music to them.

He also traveled in ministry evangelizing in word and song. His passion was music he wrote songs that touched many lives throughout the United States and Canada.

Survived by his six children: Joy Renae Eagle (Ryan), Faith Mary Eagle (Tony), Hope "Sunshine" Eagle Brass (Sundance), Charity Jewel Eagle Toutges (Cody Sr.) , Adam Still and Janae Mahpiya Eyutan Eagle; his step-children: Robert (Bonita) Gill, Tricia Gill, Wambdi Gill, Tasina (Edward) Halbert, Duta Gill, Tihdo Gill; his foster children: Cherri Keeble, Sundance Keeble, Angela White and Cheyenne White; twenty three grandchildren; two brothers: Chuck Ward and Wallace Eagle Jr.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Robert Young Eagle will be held on Saturday, December 22nd, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at The Enemy Swim Community Gym. Pastor Johnny Curtis will officiate. Interment with military rites will follow at Pickerel Lake Keeble Family Cemetery.

An all night wake will be held on Friday, December 21st beginning at 7:00 P.M. at The Enemy Swim Community Gym.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be Doc Wanna, David White, Jackie White, Andy Grey, Hoss Jack,

Tom Wilson. Sylvester Goodteacher, Jim Felix, Jay Cummings, Joe Circle Bear,

Brian Renville, Russell Hawkins, Alva Quinn and Jr. American Horse.

Casket Bearers will be Russel Hawkins, Darrell White, Tommy Carpenter, Cody Toutges Sr., Sundance Brass and Ryan Deaflad.

The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, Minnesota is serving the family.
