Red Lake Warriors Band hosts Winter Concert


The Red Lake Warriors Band hosted a Winter Concert at the Red Lake Middle School Mini-Theater on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, playing about 15 songs in two concerts.

Directed by Julie Aas, the first concert was performed by the Red Lake Middle School students, followed by the High School.

Now in its third year at Red Lake Schools after not having a band program since 1994, they have came a long way, and there was much improvement, as well as more interest over those years.

In front of a packed house, the students performed such songs as Oh Susanna, Star Search-French Melody, Jingle Bells, Magma, Lean on me and the Lion Sleeps Tonight, just to name a few.

Members of the Middle School were: Danielle Rushman, Shaylyn Prentice, ANgela Oakgrove, David May, Richard Clark, WesleyAnn Strong, Tammy May, Robbie Beaulieu, Audrey Graves, Dylan Lussier, Michael Bunker, Liz Barrett, Anthony Stately, Samantha Roy, Grace White, Jenna Johnson, Nick Defoe, Marla Beaulieu, Marla Donnell, Robert Brown, Alexis Desjarlait, Brent Pemberton, Terrell Stately, Quinten Chaboyea and Porsha Roberts.

Members of the Red Lake High School Band were: Shauntay Roy, Josh Desjarlait, Falesha Desjarlait-Pemberton, Tyler Johnson, Sara Mountain, Shana Blue, Kendra Dow, Kennedy Barrett, Tatianna McClain, Seleasha Roy, Angel Stillday, Raven White, Bruce Johnson, Roberta Barrett, Kristie Basswood, Bethany Dudley, Sueann Crowe, Quinten Thompson, Taylar Lightfeather, Brittany Ann May, Ashleigh Smith, Morning Star White, Roselynn May and Geralynn Jourdain.

Food and refreshments were served in the Middle School Cafeteria following the concert. The buzz of the day was much they had improved over the years.
