William "Billy" Earl Summers

William “Billy” Summers, 83, of Bagley, Minnesota died on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Phillip’s Episcopal Church in Rice Lake, MN. A wake will begin on Monday night at 4:00 p.m. and continue until the time of the service. Military Honors will be accorded by the Irvin Blix American Legion Post #16 of Bagley and the White Earth Honor Guard. Interment will be at St. Phillip’s Episcopal Cemetery in Rice Lake. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted with the arrangements.

Billy was born July 27, 1929 in Nay Tah Waush, MN to Joe and Elizabeth (Staples) Summers. He was raised in Nay Tah Waush and attended school in Flandreau and Pipestone. Billy entered the United States Army and served our country during the Korean Conflict from 1950 - 1953. After his honorable discharge, Billy lived in Chicago and worked as an iron worker and in Minneapolis where he worked as a bus driver for the Minneapolis transit. After retirement Billy moved to Rice Lake, MN.

Billy was a member of St. Phillip’s Episcopal Church, the Irvin Blix American Legion Post #16 of Bagley and a member of Am-Bets.

Billy loved to tease and had a great sense of humor. He loved to cruise around and go fishing. He also enjoyed going to the casino and playing bingo.

He is survived by nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and special companion of many years Irene Summers of Rice Lake, MN

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister – Gertrude Summers Auginaush, Brothers – Elmer Wiess, Joey Emerson, Douglas Summers Sr. Special nephew – Douglas Summers Jr.
