Georgia Josephine Jones

Georgia Josephine Jones, 93, of Bemidji died Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Monday, December 3, 2012 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Bemidji with Revs. Genelle Netland and Andrew Ronnevik officiating. Visitation will be from 2 – 4pm Sunday with a prayer service at 3:30 pm at the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be at the Trinity Lutheran-Pony Lake Cemetery in rural Bemidji.

Georgia was born November 18, 1919 in Pinewood, MN, the daughter of Conrad and Regina (Iverson) Bruun. She was raised in Pinewood and attended Bemidji High School and graduated from Red Lake High School in 1941 as valedictorian. She attended French’s Business School in Bemidji. She worked as a dental assistant to Drs. Gilmore and James until she married. She married Wayland W. Jones on July 21, 1946 at First Lutheran Church in Bemidji. Georgia had a lifelong passion for loving children. Besides raising her own 7 children, she was a daycare Mom for many others. She was also a foster grandmother at Lincoln School for many years. She loved being in the presence of children. Throughout her life she practiced “4 F’s”, faith, family, friends, and food. She quietly proclaimed her faith at Calvary Lutheran Church, serving on almost every committee and group except the choir: Wedding Committee, Quilting group, Circle Bible Study group, and Sunday School were her favorites. Her family and friends were her priority in her life, she made sure in her own way that each person knew how much she cared for them. Providing food was another way of showing her love, she was famous for sharing her cookies and rhubarb desserts. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing and other crafts.

She is survived by 7 children: Roger (Peggy) Jones of Winthrop, MN Mike (Kathy) Jones of Grand Forks, ND Susan Jones of Redwood Falls, MN Tom (Jaci) Jones of Maple Grove, MN Sandy (Tom) Eaton of Baudette, MN Barb (Rick) Traver of Monticello, MN Sharon Hoverson of Bemidji 15 grandchildren 7 great grandchildren with one on the way that will be named Georgia Sister- Freda Bunch of Lubbock, Texas numerous nieces and nephews 3 sister-in-laws – Lila Bruun, Arlyce Sipe, Phyllis Jones all of Bemidji

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1987 and 6 siblings – Ida Nelson, Bennie Bruun, Clara Erickson, Oscar Bruun, Albert Bruun and Arley Bruun.

Casketbearers will be Paul Jones, Andy Eaton, John Eaton, Geoffrey Jones, Gus Jones, Josh Hoverson, Wil Hart, and Derek Jones.

Memorials are preferred to Calvary Lutheran Church.
