R2AC Awards Arts Project Grants

Region 2 Arts Council (R2AC) recently awarded $7,868 through the Arts Project Grant Program, designed for organizations and schools to create or produce an arts project or event. The grant recipients included:

Mask& Rose Women’s Theater Collective, Bemidji, received $1,500 to produce an evening of celebration and awards for Region 2 theater groups called the “Oxcars.”

Bemidji Community Theater, Bemidji, was awarded $960 to implement a youth internship program in the area of technical theater, including scene design, painting and construction.

Peacemaker Resources, Bemidji, received $1,440 to work with middle school students from Schoolcraft Learning Community to create original youth radio programming centered on the themes of exploring our world and making a better place to be named “Peacemaker Radio.”

Akeley Chamber of Commerce, Akeley, was awarded $1,500 to facilitate a workshop with Mary Therese Peterson in which Akeley youth will create banners to be hung on light poles on Highway 34 and Highway 64.

Headwaters School of Music & the Arts, Bemidji received $1,500 to provide a paid accompanist when First City Singers perform in the community.

Schoolcraft Learning Community, Bemidji, was awarded $968 to present their winter and spring concerts at the Bemidji High School Performing Arts Center at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2012 and Thursday May 16. 2013, showcasing the choirs, orchestras, and the French program.
