Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) Annual Art Sale

Now in its 15th year, the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) Annual Art Sale is a Minn. tradition with all proceeds going to individual artists and the MCAD Art Sale Scholarship Fund. The show kicks off Thursday, November 15 and continues through November 20. Even in the current economy, purchasing original art is still possible and the MCAD Annual Art Sale remains one of the largest sales of its kind in the country.

The show features exclusive art pieces created by MCAD students and recent graduates at unbeatable prices. More than 6,000 pieces will be shown, all priced at less than $1000 for current students and less than $1500 for alumni, with the average art piece priced at less than $100.

The art sale is on target to have generated more than $2 million for emerging artists. Once again, MCAD will be restocking works of art throughout the sale.

Story ideas:

~ Consider having Lars Mason, founder and curator of the MCAD Art Sale, on to talk about this year's show and what goes into putting it on.

~ Interview some successful current students and local alumni who continue to be big sellers every year and who's work gains in value each year.

~ Run a slide show of art pieces being offered this year on your website.

~ Offer readers/listeners a pair tickets to the Friday night opening show. ($50 at the door)
