Esther Frenier-Veum

Esther J. (Frenier) Veum, “Winona”, age 82 of Sisseton, SD, passed away on October 14, 2012.

Esther was born on July 9, 1930 to Thelma (Hill) and Theodore Frenier, she attended Wahpeton Indian School and graduated from Flandreau Indian School. As a youngster, Esther loved to ride her horse, “Brownie”, attend Mayansan Presbyterian Church, and visit her grandparents on the farm. Esther had one son, Theodore “Spuddy” DuMarce and then made her adult life long residence in Missoula, Montana with her husband, Wallace “Wally” Veum. Esther always had pets, her last pet was a dog named “Rusty”. Esther returned to the Sisseton area in February 2010, at the Tekakwitha Nursing Home.

Esther was preceded in death by her Mother, Father, husband, son; Theodore DuMarce, granddaughter; Gwen E. DuMarce two brother; Del Max and Calvin Frenier, two sisters; Angeline Frenier and Sabina Frenier.

Esther is survived by one sister; JoAnna (Frenier) Gill of Waubay, SD, one great grandson; Daniel DuMarce of Sisseton, SD, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Esther is to be laid to rest at the Mayasan Cemetery, Veblen, South Dakota.
