Two killed when car rolls into Lake Mille Lacs

Alcohol appears to have played a role in a crash early Sunday in which two men died after the car they were in went off a north-central Minnesota road and rolled into Lake Mille Lacs, authorities said. A third man survived.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the three men were in a car heading north on Timber Trail Road, about 15 miles northwest of Onamia, just after midnight. The car crossed over Hwy. 169, rolled into a ditch and ended up in the lake.

The driver, Andrew Nickaboine, 37, of Minneapolis, and front-seat passenger, Ronald Dorr, 42, of Columbia, Minn., were taken to Onamia Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The rear-seat passenger, Keegan Morrison, 32, of Minneapolis, was taken to the hospital with noncritical injuries.

Alcohol was detected in all three men, the patrol said. Dorr and Morrison were wearing seat belts, but Nickaboine was not.
