Victoria Urrutia Yellow Earrings

Victoria Yellow Earrings, age 60, of Duluth, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012. She was born February 20, 1952 in Arizona to Benito and Josephine (Kingbird) Urrutia. Vicky as a member of the Red Lake Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and worked as a social worker for the Fond du Lac Reservation. She loved her culture and Native American Pow Wow’s, and spending time with her family.

Vicky was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, James K. VanNett. She is survived by three daughters, Renee VanNett, JoeAnn Hernandez and Maria VanNett; 5 brothers, Benito, Patrick, Jesse, David, and Raymond Urrutia; four sisters; Betty (Tommy) Pellanger, Virginia Penz, Paula (James) Thibault, and Josephine Urrutia 7 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 10, 2012 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Fond du Lac Reservation Gymnasium. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday also at the FDL Gymnasium. Spiritual Leader is Harry Windego. Pallbearers are Big boy Urrutia, Roy Morrison, Frankie P. Clark, Thomas Bellanger Jr., Willie Urrutia and Justin Davis. Honorary bearers are Tommy Bellanger, Albert Roybal, Jim Thibault, Jerry Lee Kingbird, Pat Urrutia, David Urrutia and Lymon Kingbird. Interment will follow at Oneota Cemetery in Duluth.
