Murray Michael Hill

Murray Michael Hill "Mato-Ska", age 59, of Sisseton, South Dakota Journeyed to the Spirit World on Tuesday, October 2, 2012.

He was born on June 18, 1953 in Sisseton, South Dakota the son of Zachariah Hill and Josephine Starlight. The youngest of nine children.

Michael attended BC Day School and received his GED.

He married Nancy Little Hawk on October 21st, 1989. To this union six children were born, five daughters and a son. Another son Weston Hill

was born.

Mike was a fun loving guy, he made everyone smile and laugh. He had many friends and was called "Uncle" by so many young people.

Michael like to sing and play guitar. He sang duets with his mother in Church.

He also enjoyed hobbies, reading, playing Whist, was an avid Vikings

Football fan, Pow-Wows and Pow-Wow music.

In his younger years, he played softball as a pitcher and played Basketball. In 1980 he was a grass dancer and danced with his five

daughter’s throughout Indian Country.

He lived a good portion of his life in The Fargo-Moorhead area. He moved back to Sisseton, South Dakota in the early nineties.

Michael loved his children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces. Mike was special to all. He will be greatly missed and

remembered always.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, paternal grandparents: Louie and Mary Hill, maternal grandparents: Philip Louis and Louise LaBlanc, a daughter: Hanwiyapa Doreen Marissa Hill and three brothers: Kenneth Hill, Wellington BJ Hill, Tuffy "Vibert" White, three sisters: Evelyn Beetem, Iantha White and Doreen Hill.

Survived by daughters: Starlight, Mato-win, Morning Star and Micaela Hill of Rapid City, South Dakota; sons: Murray Hill Jr. of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Weston Hill of Veblen, South Dakota; brothers: Milton Hill and Nathan Hill; sisters: Armantha White, Ruth Hill,

Katie Hill, Elreen Blue and an adopted sister: Sandra Keeble-Brant all of

Sisseton, South Dakota; many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and

friends.

Funeral Services for Murray Michael Hill will be held on Monday, October 8th at 2:00 P.M. at The Big Coulee Ascension Church.

Filmore Simon, CLP and Pastor Milton "Nippy" Owen will officiate. Spiritual Leader will be Ron Cook.

Interment Big Coulee Ascension Church Cemetery.

Drum group will be "Cook Brothers" and "Big Coulee Choir".

All night wakes will be held on Friday, October 5th, Saturday, October 6th and Sunday, October 7th beginning at 7:00 P.M. at The Big Coulee

District Center.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be Nathan Hill, Milton Hill, Johnboy

Casket Bearers will be Mike Brewer, Sandra Keeble Brant, “Young Guns” (Joe Kohl Jr.), Murray M. Hill Jr., Lyric Hill, Delroy Hill, Cameron Hill-Charboneau, Zach Hill, Leighton Hill, Prescott St. John, Bob Beetem, Brian Beetem, Ricky Hill, Aaron Wozna, Sampson "Boo" White

and Paul White.
