October 7th – 13th, 2012
The Behavioral Health Department (Red Lake Hospital) will be hosting its annual Mental Health Awareness Week October 7th – 13th, 2012. This year’s theme, endorsed by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), is “Changing Attitudes; Changing Lives.” Moreover, our flagship event, the National Depressing Screening Day will be conducted on October 11th, 2012. Last year we were able to screen approximately 500 community members and identified up 25 community members in urgent need of services.
Additionally, our Behavioral Health Department is planning on a variety of events for that week including presentations, informational booths, an open house, “best dressed,” word scramble games, and guessing the amount of items in a jar with a small prize for the winners.
During this week, we ask everyone remain open minded and help reduce the stigma of mental illness. We also hope to have promotional items such as wristbands and stickers to promote Mental Health Awareness. Colors for Mental Health Awareness may include blue, silver or gray, or green; however, please consider wearing GREEN throughout the week for a consistent theme.
Please anticipate future updates and announcements. If you have any questions OR would like to partner with us for any event please feel free to contact Dr. McDougall at the information provided below.
