Drive Safely Work Week, October 1– 5, 2012

Back to basics: Your key to safe driving.

Drive Safely Work Week, coordinated by the Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS), is an annual workplace

safety campaign. It provides an opportunity to remind employees of safe driving practices. Most businesses today are operating with resources stretched to the limit – no one can afford the disruption of a traffic-related injury to even one employee.

This year’s campaign materials take us back to the basics – to remind us of some of the fundamental skills necessary to being a safe driver. Whether your employees are on the road for most of the work day or driving to and from work, you’ll find this year’s campaign toolkit packed with tips and information to refresh some of the skills that may have become a bit rusty and perhaps teach us a few new ones. And for anyone facing the challenges of having a new driver in the household, the tips and activities in this year’s campaign materials are ideal for assisting in the allimportant role of being a good driving coach.

Daily themes include:

Monday: Buckle Up!

Tuesday: Steer with a Clear Head

Wednesday: Drive Distraction-free

Thursday: Parking and Backing Basics

Friday: Fine-tune the Fundamentals

Campaign materials include tips sheets, graphics, posters, online videos, suggested activities (and the tools you’ll need to implement them). Each day of the week features several activities, including one that requires minimal time – both on the part of the person planning your organization’s campaign as well as from the employee participating in the activity. The variety of options allows you to customize for your organization’s needs.

To learn more and review materials, see the Drive Safely Work Week web site. Take this opportunity to help reduce the number of traffic crashes that impact your workforce, their families and your community.
