Support the Native American Education Act of 2012

U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet of Colorado introduced The Native American Education Act of 2012 in August. It would direct the federal government to continue tuition waivers for Native American students at certain institutions of higher education. The bill would call for the Secretary of Education to pay tuition costs for Native American students attending designated, four-year, Native American-serving nontribal institutions of higher education. This cost currently falls to states. Schools like Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, and the University of Minnesota at Morris all have existing programs that allow Native American students, including those who reside out of state, to attend with a waiver of tuition.
