Garrison Keillor to Guest Host Free concert with Musicians of The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra in music of Rossini, Mozart & Beethoven

ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA – September 13, 2012 –The Musicians of The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra (SPCO) will present a free concert for the public on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 7:30 pm in the Leonard Center Gymnasium on the Saint Paul campus of Macalester College. Garrison Keillor, longtime host of MPR’s Prairie Home Companion, will guest host the event. Concertmaster Steven Copes offered this statement: “The musicians in the SPCO adore their enthusiastic audiences in the Twin Cities, and this is a fun and celebratory way to really give something back to the community that supports what we do, and in an unexpected venue as well.”

The program, which will be led by the musicians, includes the Overture to Rossini’s The Italian Girl in Algiers, Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante for Violin & Viola in Eb, and Beethoven’s Symphony #1 in C.

The musicians will also hold a special reception for all patrons in attendance immediately following the concert.
