Joseph James Hurd, Sr.

Joseph James Hurd, Sr.,68, of Red Lake, MN entered the spirit world Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Grace Pointe Crossing Nursing Home in Cambridge, MN.

Traditional Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Friday September 7, 2012 at the Little Rock Community Center in Red Lake. A wake will begin on Wednesday at the Little Rock Community Center and will continue until the time of the services on Friday. Interment will be at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

Joseph was born November 17, 1943 in Red Lake, MN, the son of Herbert Hurd and Amelia (Chase) Hanson. He was raised and educated in Red Lake. He married Cathy Youpee.

He is survived by 14 children and stepchildren- Joe Hurd, Jr., Joy Prisanhane, John Hurd, Jeff Hurd, Todd Marweg, Naomi Marweg, JoLyne Hurd, Scott Hur,d Gary Hurd, Jamie Russett, Roberta “Shaggy” Russett, Louanne Russett, Robin Russett, Haus Russett; Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren 3 brothers- Eugene “Jip” Hanson, Ken Hanson, Gary Hanson; a sister- Gloria Hanson; many nieces, nephews and cousins

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Cathy, his common-in-law wife Frieda Hurd 2 sisters- Rebecca Allen and Doreen “Cookie” Hanson, a brother- Robert Hanson, grandson- Fabian Hardy, nephews- Robin “Skinnyman” Hanson, Marcel Hanson.

Active Casketbearers will be Robin Lussier, Leslie Stone, John Hurd, Gary Hurd, Joe Hurd, Jr., Bandith Hurd and Robert Hanson. Honorary Casketbearers will be Gilbert Lussier, Ken Hanson, Eugene Hanson, Gary Hanson, Ron Sigana and Todd Marweg.
