Winnipeg, MB: The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC) supports the decision of the Winnipeg Police Service announced today to search for the body of Tanya Nepinak at the Brady Road Landfill.

“We are pleased that the family of Tanya Nepinak’s hopes of finding her body and justice were not in vain,” said AMC Grand Chief Derek Nepinak “by searching the landfill, the Winnipeg Police are doing the right thing and we will do our best to support the Nepinak family and the process.”

The Winnipeg Police Service has informed the AMC that they will be asking for volunteers to come forward to assist in the search. She does not belong where she is, she needs to be found and given a proper burial with the honour and love she deserves. The AMC continues to support her family and will support the Winnipeg Police in its search.”

As preparations are made for this search which is a large scale operation that will involve a number of partners, professionals and a collaborative community effort, the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs looks forward to supporting the search.
