MariJane Natewa

MariJane Elexis Ann Natewa, whose Indian name was Ikwe Makoons, which means, Little Female Bear Cub, 16 months, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at the Red Lake Hospital.

Traditional Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday July 30, 2012 at the Ponemah Boys & Girls Club with Spiritual Advisor Anna Gibbs. A Wake will begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 28, 2012 at the Boys & Girls Club. Interment will be in the family burial grounds.

Honorary bearers will be Tyler, Lakiah, Dakota, DeAnthony, Ariah, Gavin, Calem, Karrie, Tim II, Kaylee, Haylee, Carmine, Karma, Jeice, Zoey, Seifer, Lana, Mistie, Tim, Rhiannon, John, Shaye, Cristy and Joe.

Casket bearers will be, Tom Stillday, Peter Joseph Herbert, Jory Natewa and Joe Strong. Alternate, Kevin Rosebear Sr.

She enjoyed watching Monday night RAW and Friday night smackdown with her family. She loved to be with her sister and boss her around. She liked dancing, spinning, giving kisses, playing in the mud, sitting on laps, taking baths, getting her hair fixed, swimming, talking on the phone and playing with other babies. Mare the bear was always the center of attention. She loved to eat, whenever she saw someone eating she would be there with her mouth wide open. When Tyler would babysit her, she would keep him up all night. She loved to be with her loved ones.

She is survived by her mother, Kimberly Sumner of Ponemah; father, Tyrone Natewa of Redby; adopted father, Alfred Petie Thomas of Ponemah; sister, Ariah Sumner; brothers, Jeice, Zoey, Seifer Natewa and Gavin & Calem Sumner; maternal grandmother, Jay Rosebear; maternal grandfather, Richard (Theresa) Sumner Jr.; maternal great-grandparents, Rose Rosebear and Myron Kingbird Sr. and Mary & Joe Sumner; paternal grandparents, Gayle Herbert and Bobby Natewa; paternal great-grandmother, Mary Lou Stillday.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Tommy J. Stillday, Gerry Kingbird, Frank Rosebear, Margaret Rosebear, Jane Whitefeather and Richard Sumner Sr. and special cousin Chanelle Star Rosebear.
