Jesse Evans Jr.

Jesse Lafe Evans, Jr., whose Ojibwe name is “niigaan gekek” which means “Leading Hawk”, 24, of Cass Lake, MN died Monday, July 23, 2012 in Cass Lake.

Traditional Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Monday, July 30, 2012 at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cass Lake with Spiritual Leaders Alan Hardy and Murphy Thomas. A wake will begin Friday at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cass Lake and will continue until the time of the service on Monday. Interment will be at the Old Agency Catholic Cemetery in Onigum, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Cass Lake.

Jesse was born February 12, 1988 in Bemidji, MN, the son of Jesse Lafe Evans, Sr. and Evelyn Elaine Tanner Evans. He was raised and educated in Cass Lake.

He is survived by 5 brothers- John Evans Lorin Losh Joshua Losh Jared Evans June Simmons 5 Sisters- LaRissa Evans, Becky Evans, Naomi Viznor, Star Schultz, Sandy Joslyn Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents- Rosella Evans, Elverna Finn and John Evans, Maternal grandparents- Lyman Tanner, Jr, Alfred and Mary Maisio and Sharon Kakkak, uncle- Jerry Evans and a cousin Jordan Graham.

Active Casketbearers are John Evans, Joshua Losh, Lorin Losh, Damion Proffit, Levi Losh and Ryan Watkins. Honorary Casketbearers are Tyler Oehler, Rochelle Knoblock, Shane Oehler, Domanick Proffit, Monique Hendrickx, Devin Proffit, Destiny Evans, LaRissa Evans, Ceanna Evans, Jared Evans and Becky Finn.
