RLYB Shuts Out 1st Place Subway 14-0

In one of the most dominant performances in the history of Red Lake baseball, Trent Beaulieu & Aaron White combined to pitch a perfect game against 1st place Subway Thursday night Bemidji Youth Baseball action. Subway now has a 13-2 record with both losses coming to Red Lake. Beaulieu pitched the first 3 innings, retiring every batter he faced while striking out 6 of 9 batters. White came in to relieve Beaulieu & struck out 2 of the 3 batters that came to the plate to finish the perfect game shutout. The defense backed up the pitching with some key plays by shortstop Austin May, 2nd baseman Riley Chaboyea, 1st baseman Cole Cobenais & leftfielder Jaden Wood.

Offensively, the bats continued to stay hot. The 2nd inning started when Pat Tahahwah drove in Tom May with an RBI double. Cole Cobenais, Riley Chaboyea and Aaron English follwed with walks, bringing in Tahahwah. Leadoff man Jaden Wood then brought in Cobenais & Chaboyea but was then picked off trying to stretch a single to a double. Red Lake led 4-0 after two innings.

The 3rd inning was much like the last with Rob Beaulieu & Austin May starting off the inning with back to back singles. They were able to score on wild pitches to give RLYB a 6-0 lead after three.

The biggest inning of the night was the fourth. Riley Chaboyea started it off with a sharp single up the middle and was followed by walks by English, Wood & Beaulieu. Austin May, Tom May and Tahahwah then hit back to back to back doubles, bringing in 6 runs. Cobenais then walked and was able to score on a double by Aaron White. White would later score on a wild pitch, giving Red Lake a 14-0 lead and also the mercy rule victory.

Red Lake was led offensively by Austin May, who went 2 for 2, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored; Pat Tahahwah’s 2 doubles & 2 RBIs, and Riley Chaboyea who went 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored.

RLYB, who now has a 6-7 record (including 4 forfeit losses), plays Verizon Thursday and looks to clinch a playoff spot for Saturday afternoon. Van leaves Boys & Girls Club at 4:30 on Thursday.
