Letter to the Editor: Red Lake School Board

Hi Mike,

I just finished reading the article about the Red Lake School Board. I am writing to thank you for making teachers accountable. The action you and the Red Lake School Board took is very commendable.

It is so sad to read that throughout the United States, we have children who are not taught as well as we were. Change is needed. Thank you for not being afraid to makes changes. Every student needs teachers who are well educated and care enough about our children to teach them to excel.

The 125 students from Red Lake enrolled in Kelliher, which is a "Reward" school, shows that you and the Red Lake School Board are on the right track. It shows that Red Lake students want to excel and don't want to be "dummied down" by teachers with little education and no foresight to realize how much educating these children properly contributes to a great future for all of us.

I hope that all school boards around the country who read your article learn from it, stop being apathetic and scared and put the children in the forefront.
