Benjamin defeats Weyaus for Mille Lacs Band chief executive

Melanie Benjamin won the office of Mille Lacs Band chief executive with 588 votes in the election on Tuesday, June 12, defeating Herb Weyaus, who garnered 440 votes. Benjamin will return to the office after being ousted by the Band Assembly — including Weyaus — in 2008.

In the election for District 1 representative, incumbent Sandra Blake defeated challenger and former Rep. Alicia Skinaway 247-199.

Kimberly Kegg won the election for school board chair. Semira Kimpson was elected District 1 school board member and Eloise Wind will represent District 2 on the board.
