Blackduck, CL-B in hunt for 8A title

BEMIDJI – The Section 8A baseball championship pairing will be decided today at the Bemidji State diamond and among the teams battling for those two spots are Blackduck and Cass Lake-Bena.

Blackduck (20-3) and Red Lake County (14-9) are unbeaten in the section tournament and will square off at noon today in the winner’s bracket final.

That survivor will advance to the championship series which will be played 2 p.m. Thursday at Bemidji State. A second game, if necessary, will follow at 4:30 p.m.

At 2:30 p.m. today Cass Lake-Bena (12-10) will take on Sacred Heart (17-6) in an elimination game. The survivor will face the loser of the Blackduck-Red Lake County game at 5 p.m. today.

That winner will live on to play in Thursday’s championship series but will need to win two games to claim the section title and its reward, a trip to the state meet.
