Roger Albert Ravensborg Sr.

Roger Albert Ravensborg Sr. “AkiiWinini (Earth Man), 47 of Redby, Minnesota Journeyed to the Spirit World on Friday, June 1, 2012 at Red Lake IHS Hospital.

He was born on November 26, 1964 in Bemidji, Minnesota the son of Roger Ravensborg and Francis (Rushman) Smith.

On November 8, 1991, Roger married the “Love of his Life” Ardella Clark.

Roger was self employed as an auto mechanic and logger.

Roger loved fishing, hunting and particularly being with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed giving them nicknames and always had one of them on his lap. He was always busy, but never to busy to find time for family and friends.

Roger also liked working on cars and small engines. He and Ardella liked traveling to the casino.

Survived by his wife Ardella; four sons: Shane Clark, Roger Jr., Michael and Ryan Ravensborg; three daughters: Shayna (Clark), Darilyn and Daisha Ravensborg; eleven grandchildren; five brothers: Thomas Ravensborg, Virgil Ravensborg, Michael Ostland Sr., Gordon and Mark Smith; and by a sister: Sherry Ostlund.

Preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Jack & Emma Rushman, paternal grandfather: Ollie Smith, mother: Francis Rushman, an aunt: LeoJean Rushman, an uncle: Henry Rushman and by a grandson: Ayden Strong.

Traditional Funeral Services for Roger were held on Wednesday, June 6th, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at The Redby Community Center. Interment followed at the family Resident Cemetery on the Red Lake Reservation.

All night wakes were held at The Redby Community Center on Monday, June 4th and Tuesday, June 5th beginning at 5:00 P.M.

Honorary Casket Bearers were Darilyn Ravensborg, Shayna Clark, Daisha Ravensborg, Kristine “Tubby” Oakgrove, Renee Clark, Sherry Ostlund, Cherai Clark, Ruth Wind and Alternate Chari Laduke.

Casket Bearers were Roger “Jun” Ravensborg Jr., Michael Ravensborg, Ryan Ravensborg, Shane Clark, Mike Ostlund, Virgil Ravensborg, Thomas Ravensborg, Patrick Norquay and Alternate Clayton Strong.
