Non profit to discuss jobs

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS) will hold open house

(May 8, 2012) -- Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS) will hold an open house on Tuesday, June 12, to let the public know about the job opportunities that the statewide organization offers in the Bemidji area.

LSS is Minnesota’s largest, non-profit human service organization with 2,400 employees who provide a wide variety of services including adoption and foster care, support to people with disabilities, senior dining, financial counseling, senior companion and foster grandparents programs and guardianship options, to name a few. LSS also runs homes for persons with disabilities in Fosston and Northome.

The event will not only give people an opportunity to learn about job openings and the kinds of positions available within the organization, but also speak to the employer’s representatives about organizational culture and key initiatives—including it anti-racism initiative and its commitment to being a multi-cultural organization..

“We’re always looking to keep our candidate pool open,” explained Judy Donohue, senior human resources manager for LSS. “With these events, we are seeking to improve our ability to attract and recruit diverse applicants.”

LSS was voted by its own employees as a great place to work as part of the Star Tribune’s “Top 100 Workplaces” in 2011. The recognition came after a survey in which employees identified workplace flexibility, opportunities for professional development and caring mission as reasons they liked working for the organization.

The open house on June 12 will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Beltrami Electric Cooperative, 4111 Technology Drive Northwest in Bemidji. The event is free. Representatives from New Beginnings and other organizations helping people in their employment efforts have been invited to participate in the event as well.

If you would like to attend the open house, please register your interest by emailing Laura Ryan at laura.ryan@lssmn.org
