Red Lake election board certifies 4 candidates

RED LAKE – Results from this week’s general election for four positions on the Red Lake Tribal Council have been certified.

The Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians Election Board certified the results Thursday.

The candidates receiving the most votes for their respective representative districts were Allen Pemberton, Donald “Dudie” May, Richard Barrett Sr. and Randy “Jiggs” Kingbird.

Here are candidates’ totals for each representative position (percentages rounded to nearest whole number:

Redby – Allen D. Pemberton, 373, 55 percent; Crystal Schoenborn-Cobenais, 146, 21 percent; Tom “Jambi” Westbrook, 59, 9 percent; David B. Donnell Sr., 50, 7 percent; Sheldon “Skin” Brown, 42, 6 percent; and Michael G. Stillday, 14, 2 percent

Red Lake – Donald “Dudie” May, 389, 46 percent; Lee Lussier Sr., 171, 20 percent; Nolan Desjarlait Sr., 102, 12 percent; Paul “Smokey” Smith Jr., 84, 10 percent; Gloria J. Jourdain, 37, 4 percent; Deanna K. Lasley, 33, 4 percent; and Craig L. Maxwell, 27, 3 percent

Little Rock – Richard W. Barrett Sr., 262, 63 percent; Darwin Sumner, 133, 32 percent; and Kathy “Spears” Dudley, 21, 5 percent

Ponemah – Randy “Jiggs” Kingbird, 223, 53 percent, and Glenda J. Martin, 194, 47 percent
