Senate Democrats, Women Leaders Call On House To Pass Senate VAWA Bill

This morning my colleagues joined leading women’s advocacy groups to call on the House GOP to take up and pass the Senate’s bipartisan reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). This legislation passed the Senate 68-31 with 15 GOP votes, but the House has instead decided to take up a partisan measure that omits several critical provisions from the Senate passed bill. Please click on the video below to view a clip from today’s event with Senate Democrats and VAWA advocates urging the House to pass the Senate’s bipartisan Violence Against Women Act. As always, I encourage you to share this important information with your friends and colleagues. We will not tolerate violence against women, children, and families, and we all must do our part now to reduce domestic violence and sexual assault.

Sincerely,

U.S. Senator Mark Begich of Alaska

Chairman, Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee
