JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Position: Environmental Technician

Location: Red Lake Department of Natural Resources, Red Lake, MN

Reports to: Environmental Response Coordinator, Environmental Program Director

Salary: Based on Qualifications

Posting Date: May 8, 2012

Closing Date: May 25, 2012

Anticipated Start Date: June 18, 2012

Description: This is a full-time position with benefits as an Environmental Technician that will complete duties within the Brownfields and Environmental Response Programs.

Responsibilities: Perform program outreach and education for tribal community, perform site inventories, conduct site assessments, enforce tribal environmental codes, evaluate cleanup activities, database management, deliver written and oral progress reports for the Brownfields and Environmental Response Programs, assist with organizing community hazardous materials collections and other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• Must have excellent writing, communication, and computer skills.

• Must be able and willing to travel to attend conferences and/or trainings and pass exams.

• Must be able to work well without direct supervision.

• Must possess driver’s license, be insurable and have reliable transportation.

• Must pass employment drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications:

• An Associate’s or higher degree in Environmental Science or closely related field or equivalent work experience.

• Familiarity with EPA and Tribal Environmental Programs.

• Possess basic GIS Skills.

American Indian preference is granted to qualified individuals.
