Panthers even record at 2-2

Red Lake looking for win

After opening the season 0-2 the Cass Lake-Bena baseball team has evened its record with a pair of lopsided victories.

The winning streak began last week with a 15-0 win over Red Lake and also included a 12-0 shutout at Laporte.

Caleb Fisher allowed only one hit and fanned eight in the win at Red Lake. Wesley Moe had three hits and Jake Ellis, Fisher, Ben Ruzek and Jordan Collins added a pair.

The Panthers took charge early as they scored eight runs in the top of the first. Fisher began the inning with a triple and he quickly scored courtesy of Ellis’ double. Moe followed with an RBI single.

Moe went the distance on the mound at Laporte and tossed another one-hitter. The offense was paced by Dan Fredricksen and Fisher who each pounded three hits. Ellis and Rairdon added a pair.

Fisher finished with a triple, double and single while Ellis had a triple and a single and Moe, Rairdon and Fredricken contributed doubles.

CL-B was at Lake of the Woods Tuesday and will complete the week by hosting Kelliher-Northome Thursday and visiting Nevis Friday.

In other action last week Bagley collected three wins, stopping Nevis 2-1, Walker-Hackensack-Akeley 5-2 and Blackduck 2-1.

The Flyers visited Red Lake Tuesday, head to Pine River Thursday and play a twinbill at LOW Friday.

K- N went 2-1 last week, belting LOW 13-2 and Nevis 14-1 while falling to Pine River 6-4.

The Mustangs traveled to Blackduck Tuesday and host Red Lake Friday.

Blackduck downed Red Lake 12-2 and swept Laporte 10-0 and 25-1 before losing 2-1 to Bagley.

Monday at BSU the Drakes fell to Fosston. Tuesday found them hosting K-N and on Thursday they will head to Nevis.

Laporte dipped to 0-3 after dropping 10-0 and 25-1 decisions to Blackduck and a 12-0 contest to Cass Lake-Bena.

Red Lake also is looking for its initial victory as the Warriors are 0-3 following the 12-2 and 15-0 losses to Blackduck and CL-B.

Kelliher-Northome posted its first win of the spring last week when it thumped Indus 28-5. The Mustangs also lost 22-0 to Fertile-Beltrami and enter this week with a 1-2 record.

K-N traveled to Littlefork Tuesday and visits Blackduck Thursday.

Bagley had a productive week as it went 4-0 and improved to 7-2 overall. The Flyers bounced Win-E-Mac 17-5, RLCC 10-0, Blackduck 19-3 and Fosston 14-7.

Bagley was at Fertile Tuesday and hosts Thief River Falls Monday.

Cass Lake-Bena split its two games last week, downing Red Lake 13-1 and losing 16-5 at Nevis.

The Panthers hosted Pine River Tuesday and travel to WHA Thursday.

Blackduck dropped a pair of home games last week, 19-3 to Bagley and 22-12 to Fosston. The Drakes continued the homestand Tuesday against Indus and also entertain K-N Thursday.
