Richard Robert Castanada

Richard Robert Castanada (whose Ojibwe name is “Bii Baa Ayaad Anung” – which means “Wandering Star”), 54, of Ponemah, MN, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at the Red Lake Hospital in Red Lake, MN.

Traditional Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Monday, April 2, 2012 at the Ponemah Community Center in Ponemah, MN. A wake will begin at 1:00 pm, Friday, March 30, 2012 at the Ponemah Community Center and will continue until the time of the service. Interment will be at the Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

He was born on January 14, 1958, at Warren, MN, the son of Jesus Castanada and Mary Black. He was raised and educated Red Lake, MN. He enjoyed going to the casino and visiting with family and friends.

He is survived by: Brothers, Donald Iceman of Red Lake, Marvin Iceman of Ponemah, Darell Geshik of Ponemah, David Castanada of Ponemah

He was preceded in death by his parents.
