Myron Louis Smith

Myron Louis Smith, 79 of Red Lake died Monday, March 19, 2012 at the Red Lake Hospital.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm Friday, March 23, 2012 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Red Lake, MN with Fr. Jerry Rogers officiating. A wake will begin at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 21 at the Red Lake Center in Red Lake and continue until the time of service on Friday. Interment will be at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Red Lake, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

He was born April 30, 1932 in Red Lake, MN the son of Charles and Alice (Munnell) Smith. He was raised and educated in Red Lake. He enjoyed going to the casino, fishing, hunting and watching wrestling with his grandsons and great grandsons. He was a Red Lake warrior fan and enjoyed following the team around. He loved being with his grandchildren. He helped raise his grandchildren Alicia (Tony) Lussier-Hardy and Dustin (RoseAnne) Jourdain.

He is survived by his wife: Theresa Smith of Red Lake Children: Dean Smith of Minneapolis, Wayne Smith of Cass Lake, Sandy Berlin-Smith of Fargo, Tony Smith of Cass Lake, Duane (Sandy) Smith, Sr. of Red Lake, Marlin Smith of Red Lake, Shirley (Reginald) Smith of Red Lake, David Smith of Cass Lake, Stepdaughter: Rose Johnson of Bemidji; 16 Grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Daniel J. Smith, granddaughter Justine N. Stately-Smith, brothers Joey Smith, Herbert “Zemo” May and sisters Martina Thorsen and Mary Jane English.

Honorary Casketbearers will be Paul Stillday, Maurice “Jocko” Thunder, Rodney Stillday, Sr., Reginald Beaulieu, Sr., Doug Dudley, Sr. and Keith Beaulieu.

Active Casketbearers will be his grandsons: Duane Smith, Jr., Douglas Smith, Delwyn Smith, Dustin Jourdain, Gary Berlin, Jr. and Darnelle Berlin.
