Jones to Represent Beltrami Electric at 2012 Youth Tour

Beltrami Electric has selected Cass Lake-‐Bena High School’s Jasmine Jones as the co-operative’s representative for the 2012 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour, where she will join hundreds of high school students representing their cooperatives on an allexpense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., June 15-‐22 2012. This journey is a part of an annual Youth Tour sponsored by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, the Minnesota Rural Electric Association and Beltrami Electric Cooperative.

Ms. Jones is a very active student at Cass Lake-‐Bena High School, as she plays basketball, is a member of the student council, model United Nations, Spanish Club and Upward Bound. In addition, she competes in speech meets and participated in the Upward Bound talent show. She is also a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

The tour includes visits to many of the National Mall memorials. Representatives will also spend a day on “The Hill” meeting with legislators and witnessing the dayto-day operations of the federal legislature. Jasmine was selected based on her strong educational background and community involvements, qualities that Beltrami Electric Cooperative believes are important in our future community leaders.

Jasmine is the daughter of Rebecca J.L. Northbird, Cass Lake, Minn.
