Anishinabe Legal Services - Will & Family Law Clinic

March 15 & 16, 2012

Anishinabe Legal Services (ALS) in collaboration with the Minnesota Justice Foundation and law students of the University of Minnesota Law School and the University of St. Thomas Law School have partnered together to provide the 1st annual a 2-day Legal Clinic for Family Law Issues and Estate Planning. The legal clinics are free and will take place on March 15 and 16, 2012.

March 15 (Thurs) from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m and March 16 (Fri) from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

the family law and estate planning clinics will be held at the Red Lake Tribal College, Red Lake, MN. The clinic is open to people 18 and older who live on or near the reservation. Please bring the following documents and/or information. Without the necessary information we may be unable to complete the documents.

For Family Law issues:

Tribal and state court forms: divorce, custody, visitation, child support modification , and delegation of parental rights.

1. Most recent court order if seeking modification of prior order.

2. Current contact information and Social Security numbers for parties involved.

3. Enrollment status of parties involved.

4. Respondents need to bring the pleadings they have been served.

For Estate Planning:

1. Will: bring a list of children/heirs include full name and dates of birth, titles (mobile homes, cars, boats, trailers), your tribal land lease agreements, Trust allotment land inventory and deeds, and tribal enrollment number.

2. Health Care Directive and financial Power of Attorney: bring name, address and phone number of the person(s) you would want to make decisions on your behalf.
