Jail inmate escapes with stolen cash

When an inmate from Beltrami County Jail failed to return from work release at the Palace Casino in Cass Lake, Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated.

They learned the inmate had stolen money from a cash register at the casino and walked out the back employee door, according to a Sheriff’s Office report.

A woman who had assisted the inmate’s escape was later arrested and transported to Beltrami County Jail with a charge of aiding an offender.
