Minneapolis man guilty of abuse on Red Lake Reservation

A Minneapolis man was found guilty Tuesday on two counts of aggravated sexual abuse against a child younger than 12 in federal court, according to a Department of Justice news release.

Court documents said Joseph Valerian Parshall, 31, committed the two acts between Feb. 1 and July 27, 2011.

On July 27, Red Lake Tribal Police was informed of the abuse, and Parshall was arrested on Aug. 31 by the FBI’s Fugitive Task Force.

After being convicted by a federal jury in Fergus Falls, Minn., Parshall could serve as much as 30 years for each count.

The news release said U.S. District Court Judge John R. Tunheim will sentence Parshall at a future hearing.
