Native Mob arrests hit violent gang

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Members of the Native Mob gang have shot rivals in Minneapolis, sold drugs in Duluth, and thrown boiling water in a person's face in Crow Wing County.

Authorities say this week's federal indictment of 24 suspected Native Mob members could bring a reprieve from some of that violence where the gang is active. It's seen as one of the most violent gangs in the Upper Midwest.

Minneapolis police Inspector Mike Martin says the indictment sends a message "that you can run but you can't hide."

Still, because the gang is so structured and has influence from the Twin Cities to reservations throughout Minnesota, the Dakotas and Wisconsin, authorities say it's unlikely the indictment will dismantle the gang altogether.

There are better ways to fight the power than this. The first thing we should teach our kids is respect for themselves and others, that we are responsible for what we do and become. No matter how bad a place we start from or how hard we have it, its up to us to rise above it. If we do our best and fail, at least we can say we tried. I want to say thank you to everyone who does that. I also want to say thank you to the ones that blame everyone but themself, thank you for making us all look bad.

THIS is what society wants, they WANT to see us fail, they WANT us to think there is no hope. Are we going to give them the satisfaction of being right when they call us useless, lazy drunks? If you really want to fight the system, pay attention when elders try to teach you things, pay attention in school, and use the system against itself. How many people have to fall into the traps set for us before we realize that NO ONE ELSE BUT US is responsible for what we become and pass on to our kids?

I find it ironic that all these Lil Wayne look-alikes claim native pride while flashing gang signs, talking like they only have a 4th grade education and come from the deep south. Blame it on the chimooks all you want, but the only thing that can truly hold someone back from succeeding is themself. If being a disgrace is your goal, then good job, you made it! Blame the parents, who obviously dont care enough about their kids to teach them respect for themselves or others. Native Pride....right.
