Chain Reaction Theatre Project Presents: "SEVEN"

By Paula Cizmar, Catherine Filloux, Gail Kriegel, Carol K. Mack, Ruth Margraff, Anna Deveare Smith and Susan Yankowitz

Chain Reaction Theatre Project (CRTP) is bringing to TLC the powerful, documentary play “SEVEN”, directed by TLC member, Shelley Smith. In this inspirational and compelling play, the stories of seven courageous and diverse women are brought to life, portraying their tireless work to overcome enormous obstacles and to bring about major change in their individual home countries. In the seven interwoven stories, each woman bravely combats oppression, thus inspiring hope and reaffirming the belief that one person can indeed make a difference.

For each performance of “SEVEN”, one of the following nonprofits will be highlighted: Sexual Violence Center, Minneapolis, Cornerstone, Bloomington, , La Amistad, Hopkins and Minneapolis, Zoom House, Minneapolis .

These nonprofits each address issues of struggles women face in our Twin Cities. By highlighting our Twin Cities challenges Chain Reaction Theatre Project drives home the point that what happens abroad also happens in our own backyard. CRTP believes audiences will be inspired from these stories to act in some way, either large or small. Thus, a representative from these nonprofits will be available, giving the audience an opportunity to act on their inspiration by asking questions or obtaining information/resources in a safe and welcoming environment.

The play runs about 65 minutes. There will be a brief talkback session, following the performance, with the actresses, director and Cornerstone representative, and facilitated by former Washington Post journalist, Don Brazeal. Due to challenging subject material, CRTP does not recommend this play for children under the age of 13. Admission is “Pay as you can” with a suggested donation of $15.
