Bemidji Public Library to offer “In the Heart of the Beast” puppet & mask theater on Saturday January 21, 2012

It’s time for a theater treat that is sure to delight all ages with unique puppets made from scratch, and stories that come from many indigenous cultures. The puppets come alive at the Bemidji Public Library on Saturday January 21 at 4:00 p.m. “Coyote Stories” offers you many stories with many lessons. Julie Boada from In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre of Minneapolis, created the puppets and story, and performs this puppet story solo.

In “Coyote Stories”, Nimisee the clown will tell some favorite trickster tales. Drawing from the stories of the Assiniboine of the Great Plains, the Aztecs of Mexico and the Okanagun and Salishan of the Great Basin; Coyote is a hero, a creator and a self-centered showoff with a kind heart. At a time when so many things cause us to weep, Coyote brings us laughter, nurtures our spirit and reminds us to celebrate life.

Since 1973, In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre has been using water, flour, newspaper, paint, and unlimited imagination to tell stories that explore the struggles and celebrations of human existence.
