Red Lake Recreation Fitness Center now open for business - P3
The Grand Opening of the Red Lake Recreation Fitness Center was held on Wednesday, January 11, 2012. Located at the Red Lake Humanities Center, the new center has quite an impressive selection of exercise equipment from the latest in threadmills to a large assortment of dumbbells and everything else in between.
According to Ron Lussier, Red Lake Recreation Director, the equipment for the Fitness Center was close to $40,000, and was funded through various entities which included the Pepsi Corporation, Red Lake's Annual Youth Golf Tournament and other Recreation funds.
The new Center will be open from 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM Monday through Friday, but there are plans to also be open on the weekends. They have also hired two new fitness coordinators to help with all phases of a good workout.
Other amenities include towels and shower facilities, a new audio system for a variety of good music during a workout, televisions, fresh water, exercise benches and mirrors to watch yourself exercise.
The threadmills are state-of-the-art with a variety of programs, and are equipped with heart monitors, adjustable speeds and calorie burning estimates, just to name a few of their functions.
Some of the rules include: No one under 16 years of age are eligible to use the facility for safety reasons, must wear proper attire (no cut-offs or sandals), must be courteous and respectful of others, no food or beverages other than water, powerade/gatorade, no swearing, allow others to "work-in" or take turns, do not drop weights, return and rack weights when finished, pick up towels, waterbottles, etc. when finished, and always exercise safely.
