Karliah May is first Red Lake Baby of 2012

No one knew Margaret May was pregnant, not her boyfriend, George "Michael" Branchaud, her mother, or any of her friends. And neither did she until she went up to the Red Lake Hospital ER after 6 PM on New Years Day because she wasn't feeling well.

About a half hour later at 6:43 PM she delivered a beautiful 6 pound, 10 ounce baby girl, whom she named Karliah May.

Karliah is believed to be the first Red Lake baby born in 2012. She is also believed to be one of the first babies born in Red Lake in almost thirty years. Most Red Lake deliveries of the past have been done in Bemidji, where Margaret and Karliah were transported once it was complete.
