Weekend arrests lead to gang investigation

Two men were arrested Saturday after a firearm was reportedly discharged at a Cass Lake home, Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office records show.

Curtis Kent Brown Jr., 22, of Cass Lake, and Ryan James Charles, 22, of Bemidji, were arrested Saturday evening after Beltrami County Sherriff’s Office deputies responded to a disturbance possibly involving firearms with multiple subjects fighting and injured at a residence on Porcupine Road Southeast in Cass Lake.

The investigation later revealed a domestic assault with a dangerous weapon and reckless discharge of a firearm.

The incident continues to be investigated by the Sheriff’s Office and may be gang related.
