Job Description: This position exists to provide leadership, policy development recommendations, program design and implementation of a comprehensive program for educational excellence and accountability for American Indian students preK-graduate school. This position is unique as it works not only within the Department but also with Tribal and Public Schools, Tribal governments, federal and state agencies and elected officials to fulfill the programs desired outcomes. The position has fiscal responsibility for and oversight of legislated grant programs and the Indian Education Act of 1988 (124.71 to 124D.82).

Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of five years of experience in administering or coordinating educational programs specifically designed for American Indian students. This experience may have been gained administering Early Childhood, Elementary, Secondary, Post-Secondary or Community Education programs; programs conducted by state or federal education agencies; or tribal education programs.

- Experience in team leadership/management, team building, supervision or staff development.

- Experience in evaluation monitoring, including data analysis, of education services or programs.

- Experience working with American Indian Tribal governments and/or American Indian organization.

- Experience in the analysis and/or development of education policy.

- Experience in the preparation and/or monitoring of budgets and grants.
