A 48-year-old Red Lake man was indicted Wednesday in federal court for possessing with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of a firearm.

Keith Brian Donnell was charged with one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking offense and one count of possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

According to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice:

The indictment, filed Nov. 22, was unsealed following Donnell’s initial appearance in federal court.

The indictment alleges that on April 14 he possessed with intent to distribute two kilograms of marijuana. Additionally, it alleges that Donnell also possessed a firearm. The firearm and marijuana were seized during an execution of a search warrant of Donnell’s residence.

If convicted, he faces maximum penalty of life in prison on the firearm possession and five years on the marijuana count.
