Red Lake’s New Beginnings Program to meet with Walmart

Will discuss partnership that will provide employment opportunities for Red Lake

On Monday, December 12th, the New Beginnings program will be meeting with and touring Bemidji Walmart’s store and office discussing a partnership that will provide employment opportunities for unemployed and underemployed residents of the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians.

Marvin Hanson, Executive Director of New Beginnings, stated, “It is great to work with a company like Walmart that does a lot of business with our organization and reservation as well. It is a win-win situation. Walmart has employment, and we have a pool of qualified applicants that can work for Walmart. And we have a new bus called the “Employment Express” that will transport new workers to Bemidji on a daily basis”.

Ms Betty Jones, Walmart Store Manager, stated, “This will be an exciting partnership and I look forward to working with New Beginnings to attract qualified workers”.

Ms, Karen Rognstad, Walmart Personnel Manager also stated her pleasure with this partnership, “As an Equal Opportunity Employer, we welcome all qualified candidates to apply for vacancies at Walmart. Walmart does have turnover in a number of areas within the store so there are a variety of jobs that open all the time, and if we can fill them through our new found partnership that will be excellent”.

The New Beginnings “Employment Express” bus will be arriving at Walmart at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 12th with its first group of Walmart applicant for a meeting and tour of the Walmart store and offices.
