Dakotah! Sport and Fitness Hosts Turkey Trot 5k

Prior Lake, MN – On Saturday, November 19, 2011, Dakotah! Sport and Fitness sponsored their annual Turkey Trot 5K. The run started at Dakotah!, and the course continued through The Meadows at Mystic Lake, the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community golf course. In spite of the cold weather, the 277 runners and countless volunteers enjoyed themselves, reported DSF Director Tad Dunsworth. “We were glad the sleet and snow held off until after the race,” he said.

Awards were given to first, second, and third place overall male and female finishers of the 5K. The male and female top finishers also received a frozen turkey. Individual age group winners also received gift cards to Mazopiya, the tribe’s natural food market. All participants received t-shirts.

The Overall Men's Winners were Shawn Husband, 40, of Savage, in first place with a time of 18:15; Mitch Ingersoll, 24, of Carver, in second place with a time of 21:07; and Trenton Galloway, 13, of Prior Lake in third place with a time of 21:27.

The Overall Women's Winners were Heather Himler, 36, of Savage in first place with a time of 19:21; Katie Thompson, 27, of Eden Prairie, in second place with a time of 20:36; and Jessie Zwanziger, 20, of Savage, in third place with a time of 20:47.
